superficially speaking, always, i wonder if elvis went to heaven or hell. whether the old christians from the fifties were right, that elvis was a bad and very scandelous man, that he would go to hell. so... say elvis goes to hell. dandy, that's another dirty man put in the big clinker. but then fifty years pass and really... REALLY... look at society now. elvis is barely a person to wag a finger at. there are big booty bitches with their big booties hanging out of their tiny hot pants. i would say, this is far more scandelous than tight white pants with blinking crap. men grabbing their junk, degrading each other, and people dancing and humping under miraculously wild water sprayed from some unknown spigot. would elvis' soul, rotting in eternal damnation, be redeemed based on society today (saying that time exists in this whole, completely hypothetical construct)? is there a spectrum for this? where, exactly is the rule book for these heaven and hell believers? the bible? now... there are definitely people in the bible who are far more scandelous than elvis that got to heaven, unless murder rape and judgment are all looked kinder upon than shaking your hips for a little pocket change. so, elvis... where are you?
of course, this is a completely wild passing thought, which of course, led to a heavier thought about morality and the gradiant in which it changes based on society and culture. there really is no set standard for what defines "good" and "bad." the ones made for us are just simple survival tools, not some ultimate answer to save us from eternal torment. be good to man because man survives by society. be good to society to prosper and continue the human race. these aren't spiritual rules, these are evolutionary rules.
